Definitely the class act of Bulgaria's purpose-built resorts, Duni was originally established as a stylish, Austrian-designed vacation village and has been popular initailly with Dutch, French and German tourists.
Today after a recent renovation the resort consists of five mini-complexes of contrasting, yet complementary, architectural styles offering 3, 4 and 5 star hotel facilities. The complexes incorporate restaurants and shops and are spaced around the pine-forested hillside. There are several swimming pools, seven tennis courts, and a full range of amenities.
Duni's three-kilometer-long, wide sandy beach is as impressive as the accommodations around it. At the north end, a breakwater running parallel to the beach provides an area of calm shallow water ideal for getting the hang of windsurfing or sailing (rentals and instruction available). Venturing beyond its protective confines, the experienced (or novice) surfer or sailor will encounter the full brunt of wind and waves.
