Day 1, Saturday: Arrive at Varna airport. Transfer to Varna for overnight.

Day 2, Sunday: Depart from Varna to Bourgas. Sightseeing tour of Sunny Beach and Nessebar. Lunch in Nessebar. Overnight in Bourgas.

Day 3, Monday: After breakfast you leave for Plovdiv via Stara Zagora, where lunch is taken. Arrive in Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city with a wealth of history and culture. Enjoy a walking tour in the old town of Plovdiv. Dinner and wine tasting in "Todoroff" wine cellar, situated in the picturesque village of Brestovitsa. Overnight stay in Plovdiv.

Day 4, Tuesday: From Plovdiv you head on to Bansko, travelling through small local villages and in the village of Surnitsa, situated on the banks of the impressive "Dospat" dam.
Lunch consists of a lovely picnic amidst the peaceful scenery of the Rhodope mountains.
Arrive in Bansko, a small town set at the foot of the steep slopes of Mount Pirin with a fascinating maze of narrow streets and old houses. Dinner in a local tavern. Overnight in Bansko.

Day 5, Wednesday: In the morning you depart for the Rila Monastery, the largest and the most impressive cultural monument from the Bulgarian National Revival period. Lunch is taken on the monastery grounds and would not be complete without the famous local speciality - freshwater trout. After lunch head on to the capital Sofia for a sightseeing tour. Dinner and overnight stay in Sofia.

Day 6, Thursday:
After breakfast you leave for Veliko Tarnovo with a guided tour of the Etara open air museum en route, a reproduction of an authentic Bulgarian village set in a picturesque valley, followed by lunch in a Bulgarian cuisine restaurant. After lunch you continue to the mediaeval city of Veliko Tarnovo, once the capital of the second Bulgarian Kingdom. Guided tour of the hills of Tsarevets, and impregnable fortress which became the centre of Tarnovo in the 12th century.
Later you depart for one of the most picturesque villages in Bulgaria - Arbanassi. The overnight stay will be in one of the charming hotels in the village.

Day 7, Friday:
After a guided walking tour of Arbanassi and a chance to visit some of its attractively decorated ancient houses and the impressive Church of the Nativity, you continue to Varna. Lunch and a chance to enjoy some excellent wine in the town of Shoumen.
Once in Varna, enjoy a afternoon sightseeing tour. Dinner and overnight in Varna.
Day 8, Saturday: Transfer to Varna airport for your return flight to the UK.

PLEASE NOTE: Clients are accommodated in 3 and 4 star hotels throughout the tour. Sunday departures to Bourgas airport also available.

This one week tour is designed to acquaint you with Bulgaria’s most signficant historical places and visits to some popular wine regions and wineries. The tour operates from Bourgas, and can be enjoyed as either a tour only or coupled with an extra week on the Black Sea coast.

Day 1: Welcome to Bulgaria!
Arrival in Bourgas airport. Transfer to Bourgas town for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Nessebar – Varna

After breakfast, we travel to Nessebar for a guided tour in the old picturesque town which is listed on UNESCO. After some free time in the afternoon, the trip continues on to Varna. After a short sightseeing trip, we visit the “House of Wine” which boasts a selection of the best Bulgarian wines including “Melnik” & “Gamza” brands. Dinner and overnight in Varna.

Day 3: Varna – Shumen – Lyaskovets – Veliko Tarnovo
From Varna we travel to the Madara horseman – a UNESCO site close to the town of Shumen. Next is a visit to Lyaskovets, one of the biggest Bulgarian wineries. After some wine tasting, we continue on to Veliko Tarnovo – the former Bulgarian capital. Enjoy a visit to the famous “Tsarevets” fortress. Overnight and dinner in the Winepalace hotel in the nearby village of Arbanassi.

Day 4: Veliko Tarnovo – Kazanlak – Plovdiv

After breakfast we travel to the Kazanlak region – the valley of the Thracian kings. There we visit the “Kazanlak tomb” – listed in the UNESCO and taste some of the Rose products. Bulgaria is known as the country of roses and some products include:
Rose liquor, brandy and jam. In the afternoon, we enjoy a wine-tasting visit at the “Royal Cellar”, which is situated in the small town of Banya. Overnight and dinner in Plovdiv.

Day 5: Plovdiv – Bachkovo – Plovdiv

A morning sightseeing trip in the town of Plovdiv including the Old town and Amphitheatre. In the afternoon we visit the Bachkovo Monastery – the second most notorious monastery in Bulgaria. In the evening, wine tasting and gourmet dinner will be held in the nearby village of Brestovitsa. Overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 6: Plovdiv – Perperikon – Haskovo – Stara Zagora

On the way to Perperikon we visit the temple of the Greek God Wine – Dionysos.
In the afternoon, we visit “Haskovo” winery where southern Bulgarian wines are produced.
Dinner & overnight in Stara Zagora.

Day 7: Stara Zagora – Slavyantsi – Bourgas
In the morning we visit the region between Sliven and Karnobat, where the “Slayantsi” winery is based. Enjoy tasting the local wine brands from this region before heading to Bourgas. Time at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Bourgas.

Day 8: Bourgas airport
Transfer to the Bourgas airport for your return flight
to the UK.

Day 1, Sunday, Dubrovnik
Transfer on the day of the tour from Dubrovnik airport, harbour or another hotel in Dubrovnik area to the tour hotel. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 2, Monday, Dubrovnik - Mostar - Sarajevo
Morning departure to Mostar, city of bridges, where the travellers from the south reaches the first glimpses of the continent beyond. After a Mostar city tour depature to Sarajevo, the Capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo is one of the most historically interesting cities in Europe. It is the place where the Western & Eastern Roman Empire split; where the people of the Eastern Orthodox east, the Ottoman south and the Roman Catholic west, met, lived and warred. It has been an example of historical turbulence and the clash of civilizations, as well as a beacon of hope for peace and tolerance through multi-cultural integration. City tour of Sarajevo upon arrival. Dinner and overnight in Sarajevo.


  Zagreb, Croatia  
Day 3, Tuesday, Sarajevo - Osijek
Morning departure to Osijek, the largest city in eastern Croatia, beautifully settled on the banks of Drava river. Osijek remains a popular tourist destination for its Baroque style, open spaces and ample recreational opportunities. The abundance of game and agriculture has made Osijek the country's semi-official gastronomical capital.
City tour of Osijek includes the Cathedral and the Tvrdja (Old Fort). Dinner and overnight in Osijek.

Day 4, Wednesday, Osijek - Zagreb
Morning departure to Djakovo. The first thing you see when approaching Djakovo from either side is the brightness of the bricks of the two towers and cupolas of the most beautiful cathedral in the area from Venice to Istanbul. The tour of the Cathedral followed by departure to Zagreb. Upon arrival sightseeing of Zagreb, Croatian capital city, including the fortified Upper Town, the city’s historical centre, St Mark’s church with multi-coloured roof, the Cathedral, Croatian National Theatre and University. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb.


  Zadar, Croatia  
Day 5, Thursday, Zagreb - Plitvice - Zadar
Morning departure for Plitvice National Park, inscribed on the List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Tour of the 16 crystal - blue lakes cascading into 92 spectacular waterfalls. Walk on the wooden promenades to view majestic waters where every turn leads to a breathtaking scenery and yet another waterfall. Surrounded by dense woods Plitvice lakes are a natural phenomenon of rare and unique beauty. Departure to Zadar. Dinner and overnight in Zadar.

Day 6, Friday, Zadar - Split
After breakfast orientation tour of Zadar (without entrances to the museums) including the Roman Forum from the 2nd century BC, the 9th century pre-Romanesque church of St. Donatus as well as St. Elias church. Departure to Split. Upon arrival, City tour of Split, covering the Diocletian’s Palace inscribed on the UNESCO’s List of World Cultural Heritage, the Peristyle, Jupiter’s Temple and the Cathedral. Dinner and overnight in Split area.

Day 7, Saturday, Split - Dubrovnik
Morning departure for Dubrovnik, driving along the Makarska Riviera. Upon arrival, city tour of Dubrovnik, inscribed on the List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. We will visit the Cathedral and Franciscan Monastery with Europe’s third oldest pharmacy.
Dinner & overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 8, Sunday, Dubrovnik - departure
Transfer on the day of the tour to Dubrovnik airport, harbour or another hotel in Dubrovnik area.
