Avoid big queues at the airport and get to the check-in on time. You must get to the airport at least 2 hours before your flight is due to leave. If you don't, the airline could refuse to take you, in which case you will have to pay to get another flight out.

Airline Regulations state that women 28 weeks or more into pregnancy at the time of return travel, must have a medical certificate of fitness to travel. Normally after 32 weeks permission to travel is refused.

Each aircraft has weight and ski carriage limitations and we have to carefully control the amount of baggage and skis equipment you take on board.
On all charter flights advertised in this brochure the allowance is 20 kg per person.

Charter flights
If you take your own skis / snowboard or boots on holiday there is a pre-bookable charge for carriage on the flights and storage in resort of £17 per pair (limited to 1 pair per passenger) to Bansko and Pamporovo, and £29 to Borovets. If you do not pre-book storage and carriage in advance, you will be charged a much higher price at the airport.

• BULGARIA AIR (FB) - TO SOFIA
  Baggage allowance excluding skis / snowboard is 20 kg. Ski, snowboard, boots, carriage and storage - £17 per pair (limited to 1 pair per passenger) to Bansko and Pamporovo, and £29 to Borovets. Excess baggage charged at approx £5.00 per kg.
  
  
• ADRIA AIRWAYS (JP) - TO LJUBLJANA
  Baggage allowance including skis / snowboard is 20 kg. Excess baggage charged at approx £4.00.
  
  
• JAT AIRWAYS (JU) - TO BELGRADE
  Baggage allowance excluding skis / snowboard is 20 kg. Free carriage of 1 pair of ski / snowboard per person. Excess baggage charged at approx £3.00 per kg.
  
  
• TAROM ROMANIAN AIRLINES (RO) - TO BUCHAREST
  Baggage allowance including skis / snowboard is 25 kg. Excess baggage charged at approx £13.00 per kg.

Please Note: Infants under 2 years travelling on adult lap do not have separate baggage allowance. Skis, snowboards and boots must be checked into the baggage hall, you may not take them with you in the cabin. Storage of skis in Romania, Slovenia and Serbia is to be paid locally. These prices are for winter 2006/07 so should only be used as a guide.

Guests who leave items of luggage on the plane or in resort should contact the supplier direct or their insurers as Balkan Holidays cannot be responsible for items left or organise for items to be sent back to the UK or Ireland.

You can reserve extra legroom seats from £25.00 return per person. Some extra legroom seats are adjacent to the emergency exits. It is a Civil Aviation Authority requirement that customers aged 14 years and over occupy these seats. For safety reasons, these are only available to passengers who are able bodied and of suitable size. Extension seatbelts can not be provided on emergency exit rows. You must have no medical conditions and, in the opinion of the cabin crew or check-in staff, have the strength and full mobility to open the emergency exit door. Only a limited number of extra legroom seats are available, which can be booked at least 4 weeks prior to departure (valid on charter flights to Bulgaria only).

Unfortunately, flight delays do sometimes occur, these are beyond our control and as a tour operator, we cannot accept liability for any expenses incurred as a result. Under EU Law you are entitled to some compensation from the airline in certain cases, eg; denied boarding or cancellation, full details will be available at EU airports. Please note however that you are not entitled to a full refund of your holiday cost from us in these circumstances. In the event of a delay, we will do our best to help you and ensure that the delay is as short as possible. If a delay exceeds 3 hours, we will provide light refreshments, in the event of a delay exceeding 6 hours, a meal will be provided, and for longer delays exceeding 12 hours, overnight accommodation and meals at appropriate times will be provided.
Please note that welfare provided is dependant on airport facilities available at the time. The above is without prejudice to your rights against the airline under the European Denied Boarding Regulations 261/2004.
