Whatever your level of ability is, the basic cost of a skiing holiday to Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia compares very favourably to other countries. Where Balkan Holidays really comes out on top is our excellent pre-booked ski pack prices. A lift pass in some of the French or Austrian resorts for example can be up to three or four times the cost of a pass in Bulgaria and we are continuing to offer a Free Lift Pass to clients who book a full ski pack. Compared to other destinations this makes for a big, big saving and is a vital consideration when you’re planning your ski holiday.
Our ski hire and ski school prices are similarly competitive; please remember the prices in our brochure are lower than in the resort and only apply to clients who pre-book.
A great ski holiday at a sensible price is a tempting though - whether you are an experienced skier or a complete beginner who fancies having a go at a sport they have never tried before! Either way, at Balkan Holidays we can help find the right holiday for you - after all, over 100,000 skiers have given us a go, so we must be doing something right! |
Ski & Snowboard Gradings
On each resort introduction page you will find a grading for beginners, intermediates and experts. Our rating system will help identify how suitable each resort is for the different levels of skiing based on the difficulty of the ski runs, their variety and dominance.
The matrix below contains all the basic facts needed to ensure you choose the right resort for the type of holiday you want, and the level of skills you have as a skier. You will find more details on each resort’s intro page as well.
Beginners
We would class a beginner as someone who is either taking their first steps on the slopes, or someone who has only skied once or twice before. There is a great temptation amongst a lot of beginners to try to move on as quickly as possible, but it’s worth remembering that those who learn all the basics properly obtain far more enjoyment out of their skiing by the end of their holiday.
Intermediates
No two "Intermediates" will be the same as the term covers a vast range of skiing ability. All intermediates however should be at home on a blue (easy) run and confident enough on a red (medium) run. They will have had at least a couple of weeks in Ski School, and will be able to perform a stem-christy and reasonable parallel turn. We would strongly recommend some additional lessons because there is still a lot to learn. Wrong techniques and bad habits picked up at this stage are very hard to get rid of. All our resorts have excellent grading for Intermediates skiing and proud of their teaching records.
Advanced
An advanced skier will be at home on any snow, be it on or off piste, and will always stay in complete control. It is true to say that whilst none of the ski resorts we feature offer particularly extensive skiing, there is plenty to keep even an expert happy. Some of the most challenging ski runs you will find in Bansko and Borovets, as well as some extreme ski and snowboard shows and attractive facilities. |
