Among other Bulgarian mountain resorts, Bansko offers what is probably the best après-ski, because it is a unique combination of a modern mountain resort and a living rustic town with a population of about 10,000 people. Almost a hundred “mehana” offer local cuisine, such as “kapama” or “Banski starets” in an atmosphere of traditional  music and dances, performed by mostly local musicians. In some of the smaller “mehana” your waiter may very well be the proprietor of the place.

If you are ready to unwind even before you have taken off your ski or snowboard shoes, visit one of the numerous restaurants or ski-bars by the slopes in the Bansko ski area as well as those by the base station of the Gondola cable car, none better positioned that one of Bansko's most popular nightspot's “Happy End” where everybody pours to relax in the relaxed atmosphere and listen to popular music. If you still have energy left after a day on the slopes why not head to the hotel Strazhite and try your hand at bowling or if you want your weekly dose of football visit the Happy End Bar or the lobby bar in the hotel Strazhite where you can find Sky TV. Besides the famous local church, St. Trinity, there are many historical, architectural, and cultural monuments in Bansko, including the houses of many famous Bulgarians from the revival period. During both the winter and summer seasons, Bansko hosts a number of festivals, including the Bansko Jazz Fest and the Festival of Local Traditions.
