Pamporovo Ski Area

Pamporovo is set high among the Rhodope Mountain in southern Bulgaria, a beautiful region, said to have once been the home of Orpheus, set amongst magnificent pine forests at a height of 1,620 metres. It is tailor-made for skiing with its 38 km of marked ski runs, including the a new 7km long run and 25 kilometers of cross country tracks.

For the first time ever, your Pamporovo lift pass will now also give you access to the Mechi Chal ski zone at Chepelare resort with a free shuttle bus service to take you between the two. Chepelare, lying in a small valley at the heart of the Rhodopi Mountain, just 10 km from Pamporovo offers the longest ski run in Bulgaria with a high-speed quad lift that connects the town with the Mechi Chal peak.

Pamporovo has a number of nursey slopes making it perfect for beginner skiers. When you've mastered the basics there are plenty of runs higher up the mountain that are more testing. For the intermediate skier and snowboarder there are plenty of red runs that help you practice and improve your technique. The more advanced skiers will no doubt enjoy the 'The Wall' the famous World Cup Downhill run as well as the 3,000m long Mechi Chal ski slope near Chepelare

Beginners

The ski school at Pamporovo is internationally renowned, and is geared to provide the best possible start for beginners. There's tuition for four hours a day, six days a week, with ski fitting, class arranging, etc. The school meets in the Malina region, just a few minutes bus drive from the centre of the resort. There are several drag lifts on the nursery slopes, but beginners will be heading for the higher slopes on the mountain long before the week is out.

Intermediates

The 37 km of marked piste really suits the intermediate skier. The new six seat chairlift from the Malina station to the top of Snezhanka peak can handle over 3000 skiers an hour, which makes short work of any queues. Alternatively, a single chair runs to the middle station, from where the four man lift runs up to the peak.

Advanced

Advanced skiers can take the drag lift from the middle station which runs up the side of 'The Wall'. This is Pamporovo's most exciting run, difficult, steep with moguls, and there's an international slalom too. The advanced skier can also test their skills on the Mechi Chal 1, the longest ski run for Apline Sports in Bulgaria, located near Chepelare resort. A free shuttle bus from Pamporovo is available every morning.

Snowboarding

Pamporovo is great for snowboarding as the nursery slopes are suitable for perfecting the techniques you can later practice on the slopes further up the mountain! Board hire, soft boots, lift pass and instruction for ages 7+ years can be booked. Please see price grid.

Ski Lifts Working Hours

All ski lifts operate from 8:45am till 4:30pm each day with each lift closed for half a day a week and one full day per month for technical checks.
