Visit the Bachkovo Monastery, one of the oldest Orthodox Monasteries in Europe. The monastery is renowned for its unique combination of Byzantine, Georgian and Bulgarian culture
Visit the Roman Amphitheatre, built in the 2nd Century AD to seat around 7,000 people, each section of seating had the names of the city quarters engraved on the benches so the citizens at the time knew where they were to sit.
Pay a visit to the small resort and spa of Hisarya. It is situated at the foot of the Sredna Gora mountain range, it boasts of a very mild climate and over two dozen different mineral springs, which make it a popular day trip for many Bulgarian and foreign tourists.
Visit the old town of Plovdiv and wander through the past. Here you will find some the best preserved Roman structures in the whole of the Balkans.
