Bulgaria Ready For The Eurovision Song Contest 2013
15 Mar 2013

Well, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this year's Eurovision Song Contest begins in Malmo, Sweden in just two months' time. Countries from around Europe have been busy selecting their entries for this year's competition and Bulgaria recently announced their entry with Elitsa & Stoyan and their song "Samo Shampioni" (meaning Only Champions) being chosen to represent Bulgaria for the second time in their careers.

In 2007, they managed to reach the final with their song "Water" coming sixth out of the 10 qualifying semi-finalists. They went on to finish in 5th place overall which was a remarkable achievement for the duo. This year Elitsa & Stoyan will be hoping their song "Samo Shampioni" can push Bulgaria back into the finals for the first time since they last appeared in 2007. The song is performed in the style of traditional Bulgarian Rhodopi (Pamporovo area) music, which uses irregular rhythms. This style inspired international artists like the late Beatles member George Harrison and Kate Bush to incorporate these irregular rhythms into their work.

With the UK already having chosen the legendary Bonnie Tyler as their 2013 entry, all of the UK will be crossing thumbs for a British victory, but be sure to keep an eye out on the Bulgarian duo of Elitsa & Stoyan who are sure to impress once again at Malmo 2013.
