According to new ABTA research, one in five holidaymakers are still travelling uninsured. Although the number of those travelling overseas uninsured are slightly down last year's figure of 22% travelling overseas uninsured, ABTA said there has still been a big rise in young holidaymakers travelling uninsured. A third (33%) of 16-24 year olds are travelling uninsured, up from 22% in 2014. A third (32%) of 25-34 year olds are also travelling uninsured, putting these two age groups at most risk should something go wrong. According to new research conducted by Hotel.info, the hotels in Bulgaria's Sofia are amongst the top 10 cleanest hotels in world capitals. The ratings were formed on the opinions of more than 6 million users of the tourist portal, who rated hotels in world capitals they have stayed in after their departure on the basis of a 0-10 points system. Guests rated the hotel on criteria such as room quality and value for money, as well as the friendliness and competence of the staff and the cleanliness of the room. All passengers flying into or out of the UK have been advised to ensure electronic devices in hand luggage are sufficiently charged to be switched on. The Department for Transport have said there could be checks "on some routes into or out of the UK" but did not disclose which routes were involved. The advice has already been applied on selected flights from the UK to the US. ABTA (The Association of British Travel Agents) has today launched a combined PR and Marketing campaign called “ABTA Early Bird” which will be aimed at encouraging British consumers to book their holidays early and to book with an ABTA member (such as Balkan Holidays). ABTA has said more holidaymakers are planning to take a winter sports holiday this season, but the number of holidaymakers planning to travel without insurance has risen alarmingly. Research conducted by ABTA showed that 15% of those taking a winter holiday are planning to go skiing or boarding, a rise of 10% from last year. However, 36% will go skiing or boarding without the necessary winter sports insurance, up from 30% last year. Please be aware that from the 30th April 2013 all EasyJet check in will be done online, not at the airport. As it is quick and easy, it will save you unnecessary time in queues at the airport.
