Please read on, to discover why Slovenia is like no other and could be just what you are looking for...

Lake Bled

Lake Bled has all the ingredients for the perfect holiday - stunning scenery, reliable weather conditions, thermal lake water, good quality accommodation and that famous island in the middle of the lake with its baroque church. The beauty of the mountains reflected on the lake, the serenity and the fresh air regularly attract visitors from all over the world. Lake Bohinj

Bohinj is the best known glacial valley of the Julian Alps, situated in the vast and beautiful Triglav National Park and dominated by magnificent Julian Alps range. There are little hamlets dotted around the densely wooded lake front and at its head lies the most famous Slovenian waterfall Savica. Everything in this area is geared towards full enjoyment of an active holiday, yet with full respect for the nature - even a local tour-boat is powered by an electric engine! More arrow

Kranjska Gora

Nestled in the heart of Zgornjesavska Valley, only a few miles away from the neighbouring Austria and Italy, Kranjska Gora is the most popular Slovenian resort for an active holiday. There is so much to do in Kranjska Gora that you will need at least one day off to relax and reflect on where you have been and where you still must visit. For those after a more tranquil holiday then the various wellness centres offering spa treatments and packages will be the perfect place to relax and unwind. More arrow

What to see and do

Slovenia is heaven for exploring spirits with a huge variety of exciting activities to suit every taste. The beautiful lakes and mountains regions offer endless walking and excursion possibilities, golfing, horseback riding, kayaking or fishing and for the more curious, a chance to visit the subterranean world of mysterious caves. The coastal areas offer a fantastic range of water based activities including sailing, windsurfing, diving and swimming or a refreshing dip in the spring and mud baths. The enjoyment doesn't end when the night falls - there are musical concerts of all kinds, folk-dancing shows, and many carnivals celebrating the ancient traditions of this magical land.

Walking

Slovenia is a 'hiker's paradise' with well-marked trails and paths criss-crossing the whole area, including an internationally famed 'Via Alpina' that starts in distant Monaco! Enjoy renowned vistas of the mighty Mt.Triglav while rambling across flower-filled meadows speckled with traditional hay racks. Experience the feeling of freedom amidst dramatic gorges, peaceful lakes and rushing rivers, shadowed by rough, jagged peaks of the majestic Julian Alps.

Food and Drink

With a staggering choice of more than 1,200 national dishes (100 different soups!), dining out is a fascinating and delightful experience. Slovenian cuisine is greatly influenced by its neighbours' taste in food, with Austrian-style sausages, strudels, risottos and pasta dishes widely available. A real Slovenian treat is 'Potica'- a cake prepared with the widest variety of sweet or savoury fillings. There are some truly outstanding full-bodied red, fruity white and rose wines which compare favourably to the rest of the world.

The monetary unit in Slovenia is the Euro. There are approx. 1.35 Euros to £1 (at Sep 2015). Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airports, banks, exchange bureau, post offices and hotels. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops.
