Stays with a Splash! It’s easy to keep cool along Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast – especially if you’re on the hunt for a Sunny Beach hotel with a water park. While the resort has two dedicated water parks – including the largest in Bulgaria – you can have even more fun on your own doorstep by choosing one of the hotels in Sunny Beach with its own water park.
At the aquapark of the all inclusive 4* Hotel Laguna Park, kids can go on adventures in their own pirate ship in the huge children’s swimming pool. Race each other on the multi-slide, where four of you can go at the same time. Have

In our previous article, we looked at five out of Bulgaria's nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here are the remaining four.
Pirin National Park
The 274km2 national park has been a world heritage site since 1983. It was founded on the 8th November 1962 in order to protect the forests in high mountains. The national park consists of the Pirin Mountain an its highest peak, Vihren at 2914m, which can be climbed easily and those who make it to the top will be awarded a beautiful view. There are more than 40 other peaks above 2500m, for example the Kutero I and Kutero II, at 2908m and 2906m respectively.

It has just been announced that soon travellers returning to the United Kindgom will no longer need to take any tests on their return. For travellers and the travel industry, this is wonderful news! One of the biggest barriers to people booking holidays has been lifted, so now is the time to look back at the last two years and what it’s been like for Balkan Holidays, our partners and of course, our customers.
In January 2020, we began to hear about a virus looming overseas. At the time we didn’t give it too much thought, but it soon spread quickly across the world and by the last week of our 2019/20 ski season, we had to fly

What is there to do in Bulgaria’s ski resorts when the skiing stops? What is the apres ski scene like? Well if you really want to you can go night skiing in Borovets and Bansko, but come one, have a day off, or should that be a night off! So if you can tear yourself away from the ski runs you’ll find that at night in Bulgaria’s ski resorts is when the fun really starts!
Let’s start with dinner at a local restaurant, or a mehana (meaning tavern) as they call them in Bansko. Bulgarian food is delicious, especially in the numerous restaurants you’ll find in our three featured resorts. All food is sourced

This week, we thought we’d look north, not to the wonderful north of England and Scotland, although those are beautiful parts of the world, but the northern part of Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast!
There are two big cities on Bulgaria’s coastline, there is Bourgas towards the south, where there are various beach resorts including Sunny Beach, Nessebar and Sozopol. Further north is Varna, which is Bulgaria’s second-biggest city. Close to Varna are the beach resorts of Golden Sands, Albena and St Konstantin. It’s fair to say that most British holidaymakers head for Bourgas, staying in Sunny Beach, Nessebar and

The last time we had any skiers on holiday with us, in fact any holiday makers at all, was in March 2020, thanks to Covid. It’s been a tough 20 months, the travel industry has been hit really hard throughout the pandemic. What makes it difficult for travel companies is they can’t just shut your doors and furlough all staff because we need to service all our customers who have holidays booked. All of us here at Balkan Holidays are very happy to do that as the vast majority of our wonderful customers have stuck with us and transferred their holiday to the next season…and then the next season! We really do appreciate all your

A Closer Look at Nessebar
Sunny Beach is the most popular resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, however so many people say ‘You must visit Nessebar’ – so we did, and this is what we found..
Nessebar is just round the bay from Sunny Beach, if you stand on the middle of the beach and look across there is Nessebar in all its splendour. To reach there you can catch a boat, bus or taxi, alternatively you can walk along the beach as it curves round into Nessebar itself.
Often referred to as ‘The Pearl of the Black Sea’ it has a rich history stretching back over three thousand years. This

The Best Off-Piste Skiing & Snowboarding Hotels In Bulgaria
We often talk about the most popular hotels in ski resorts but what about those hidden gems, those family run hotels with the authentic feels or those off the beaten track accommodation outside of the resort centre.
Many customers do not want to be around the hussle and bussle of the night life, perhaps they are a self-sufficient group or a family who like to enjoy the comforts of a home from home or hotel in a more quaint location.
Whilst visiting the 3 Bulgarian resorts I had the chance to experience all properties, meet the owners and find out what brings our

Sunny Beach is the most popular resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast and among the most popular hotels with Balkan Holidays customers are hotels Globus, Fenix and Pomorie, they are good hotels in great locations plus they are exceptional value for money, the perfect combination. Then there’s hotels such as the Melia Sunny Beach and the Laguna Park, both high quality four star all-inclusive hotels, the type of hotels so popular with holidaymakers these days.
However, there are plenty of other hotels to choose from, what is right for one person isn’t necessarily right for another person but there are plenty of
