The Castle Of Ravadinovo
When you’ve had a few days on the beach and you fancy a change of scene then a day out at the Castle of Ravadinovo, the castle ‘In love with the wind’, certainly fits the bill!  Located in the town of Ravadinovo, this castle is not what you would expect. It is the brainchild of a Bulgaria architect and its construction was started not in the first millennia, but 1996! It is a true fairy tale castle, similar to one you would see in a Disney film, but nevertheless it is a very impressive building. Built from stone carved from the nearby mountains, the walls are covered by dense Ivy giving the castle a feeling that is

History and Landmarks of Sozopol Town
Balkan Holidays have fantastic offers for you to spend your summer holiday in Sozopol,  Bulgaria. The history of Sozopol dates back to as far as the ancient Greek times when settlers arrived here with the intention of founding a polis (city-state) on the site, in around 600 BC. According to ancient Greek mythology, the name of the polis was Apollonia, named after Apollon, the God of Music and Poetry.   During the course of history, the city which is now Sozopol was destroyed in multiple occasions: first by the Romans in 72 BC, then in 1453 by Turkish hordes, the latter focusing on destroying all the medieval

Nessebar - A Historic Slice of Heaven
Situated north of Bourgas and south of the Stara Mountain, Nessebar is a Black Sea coastal resort with a rich history dating back some 3000 years. The old part of the city is located on a small piece of terrain linked to the mainland by a narrow neck of land. The new part of the city is situated on the coastline and has grown significantly over recent years creating invisible borders between Nessebar and the surrounding cities and resorts. Established towards the end of the Bronze Age by the ancient Thracians, Nessebar was originally named Melsambria - the city of Melsas, after its creator. During this time, the city was home to two

The seafront surrounded by cliffs provides an astonishing view, especially when viewed from one of the restaurants built on clifftops. You are not allowed to drive into the city centre of Sozopol; you may leave your car in one of the secure car parks provided. The history of Sozopol dates
