The resorts gondola lift has recently been upgraded to cope with a capacity of 2,000 people per hour.  A great alternative to a day on the slopes is a visit to Poiana Brasov's artificial skating ring or riding centre.

SKI KINDERGARTEN - CHILD CARE PROGRAMME

There is no kindergarten facility in the resort.

OFF SLOPE CHILD CARE

We do not recommend the resort for non-skiing children.

SKI & SNOWBOARDING EQUIPEMENT HIRE

If you do not have your own ski or snowboard gear, you can hire this in resort, including children's helmets and cross country ski's which can be hire from the Ski Depot in the Hotel Sport.

SKI LIFTS WORKING HOURS & SKI GUIDES

There is a well maintained system of ski lifts, open daily from 09:00 - 21:00. Each cable car is closed for one day per week for maintenance.

SKIING AFTER SUNSET

Floodlights have been installed on the lower slopes. So you can now enjoy your skiing until 21.00. Perfect for those wanting a lie in and not wanting to hit the slopes too early after a good evening of après-ski the previous evening or for those who just can't get enough of the slopes. This can be arranged by speaking to your Balkan Holidays Representative locally.

MEDICAL ARRANGEMENTS

In almost all cases, medical services must be paid in cash locally. Credit/debit cards are not widely accepted. Receipts will be provided to enable you to claim back from your insurance company once you return to the UK. You should inform your Balkan Holidays Representative about all medical cases and they will be able to provide assistance.

EXCURSIONS

The city tour of Brasov with its fascinating historic centre is popular, with guests able to visit the tower and bastion fortifications dating from XVth century, Saint Bartholomew church (XIIIth century), the famous Black Church - the most imposing cathedral in Romania, built between 1385 and 1476, as well as the Municipality Council House built in 1420 and now transformed into a museum.

Dracula’s Castle - a day out to really get your teeth into! Legend has it that Count Dracula, the mediaeval Prince of Transylvania, lived in Bran Castle. A fantastic trip with lunch at Moeciu.

Peles Castle: This was the former residence of the Romanian Royal Family. Set in beautiful surroundings, with the breathtaking interior. We recommend this for a half day visit.

Wine tasting at the "Carpathian Stag" restaurant and wine cellar alongside folk music, dancing and Romanian cuisine.

NIGHTLIFE

There is a good selection of restaurants in the resort, serving both Romanian and international cuisine. The bars are lively and open till late and for those who still have energy to burn there are a couple of discos and nightclubs too.

SHOPPING

A good selection of shops are located around the resort centre. However for a larger selection of shops, head to the city of Brasov where you can also enjoy a relatively cheap shopping spree and relax at the various cafes, restaurants and patisseries scattered around the center of Brasov.
