Slovenia Beach Resort Guide

Enjoy a beach holiday at the resort of Portoroz.

This is a heaven for adventurous spirits with a huge variety of exciting activities to suit every taste. The coastal areas offer an endless choice of watersports, including sailing, windsurfing, diving and swimming or a refreshing dip in the spring and mud baths in the resort of Portoroz. And if you tire of the beach and its attractions, the beautiful lakes and mountain regions offer horseback riding, river rafting, kayaking, fishing, hunting, hiking and for the more courageous, a chance to visit the subterranean world of mysterious caves.

And the enjoyment doesn't end when night falls. There are musical concerts of all kinds, folklore parties, pop entertainment and many carnivals celebrating the different ancient traditions of this magical land. Laughter and music spills out from the inviting bars and cafes and dancing on the streets often carries on late into the night. There are casinos in Portoroz, Bled and some of the larger towns.

Food and Drinks

Slovenian cuisine is greatly influenced by its neighbor's taste in food and sausages, strudels, risottos and ravioli are widely available together with a staggering choice of more than 1200 national dishes. A real Slovenian treat is 'potica', a cake prepared with the widest variety of sweet or savoury fillings or the delicious loaves of bread which vary from region to region. There are also many interesting fish and meat dishes for you to indulge. And to please your taste buds even further, there are some truly outstanding strong red, fruity white and rose wines which compare favourably to the rest of the world and are excellent value for money.
