The Best Off-Piste Skiing & Snowboarding Hotels In Bulgaria
We often talk about the most popular hotels in ski resorts but what about those hidden gems, those family run hotels with the authentic feels or those off the beaten track accommodation outside of the resort centre.
Many customers do not want to be around the hussle and bussle of the night life, perhaps they are a self-sufficient group or a family who like to enjoy the comforts of a home from home or hotel in a more quaint location.
Whilst visiting the 3 Bulgarian resorts I had the chance to experience all properties, meet the owners and find out what brings our customers to these resorts. Here are a pick of some lesser known hotels and what I loved about them.
3* Malina Village – Borovets – These are quirky villas set away from Borovets and are perfect for those self-sufficient travellers . Set amongst a forest there are 28 of these villas and you don’t have to be on a self-catering basis you can upgrade to bed & breakfast or Half board, eating across the road at the Yagoda restaurant (Yagoda villas are nearby and are Scandinavian in style) There’s a free shuttle up to resort or in the evenings you can reach the resort by taxi. However if you want to be away from it all, these villas are perfect for seclusion and serenity.
3* Campanella – Bansko – Small in price tag and small in size, this Boutique hotel with only 24 rooms has more of a large chalet style feel about it. The property is around 15 minutes’ walk to the main gondola so it isn’t too far out and offers BB and Half board basis, the owner was caring and welcoming. A sauna is a great perk of the hotel, ideal after a day on the slopes.
4* Euphoria Club Hotel – Borovets – This hotel is set away from the resort centre of Borovets, a complex and a very well built one at that, I was really impressed with the standard of this property and not only that its setting is amongst the forest offering a secluded stay! The spa area was beautiful and comes complete with a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, as well as an indoor pool, this hotel oozes quality and is set to a high standard without a huge price tag.
4*MPM Guiness – Bansko – This property again is a little further out than some but offers a free shuttle to the gondola. On arrival you are met with an atrium lobby which is bright and spacious and I found the hotel to be quite trendy, especially the use of block colours! It houses 103 apartments so is larger, ideal for bigger groups I would say, with the added bonus of the swimming pool, various saunas including the salt sauna and Jacuzzi, its perfect for those guests who like to socialise, make holiday friends and enjoy what a setting has to offer.
