Situated north of Bourgas and south of the Stara Mountain, Nessebar is a Black Sea coastal resort with a rich history dating back some 3000 years. The old part of the city is located on a small piece of terrain linked to the mainland by a narrow neck of land. The new part of the city is situated on the coastline and has grown significantly over recent years creating invisible borders between Nessebar and the surrounding cities and resorts.

Bulgaria is famed for its beautiful Blue Flag beaches, fun resorts and family holidays, yet just around the corner from Sunny Beach, is the ancient port of Nessebar which can claim to be one of the oldest towns in Europe, dating back an impressive 3,000 years.
A UNESCO World Heritage Centre, the old quarter of the town has been preserved as a living museum, displaying cobbled streets and the remains of 40 ancient churches from the medieval and other periods in history.
The city’s remains, which date mostly from the Hellenistic period, include the acropolis, a temple of Apollo, an agora and a wall from Thracian fortifications.

Sunny Beach is the most popular resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, however so many people say ‘You must visit Nessebar’ – so we did, and this is what we found..
Nessebar is just round the bay from Sunny Beach, if you stand on the middle of the beach and look across there is Nessebar in all its splendour. To reach there you can catch a boat, bus or taxi, alternatively you can walk along the beach as it curves round into Nessebar itself.
