Bulgaria is known for the many beautiful beach resorts such as Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, Albena as well as beautiful mountains that offer fantastic views and romantic cities which are great for short breaks and shopping. But now, thanks to a huge rise in quality accommodation, extremely cheap flights, and some of the lowest holiday package prices around, mainstream travel companies like Balkan Holidays and Thomas Cook are listing Bulgaria as one of the top destinations for UK travelers and a place where you can spend 1 to 2 weeks holidays which would cost almost half of that if you were in Brighton.

Bulgaria unlike countries like Spain and Greece is not tied to a summer high season, so it is making commercial sense for travel companies to invest advertising funds and resources to sourcing hotels and holiday packages in Bulgaria for projected annual revenue rather than the seasonal spikes. The main reason Bulgaria is hitting the high mark is due to the sophisticated seaside resorts based on the Black Sea Coast, extremely popular winter ski resorts, and lively and metropolitan city break options.

Summer:

During Summer months: May, June, July, Aug, the lively beach resorts along the Black Sea coast are awake throughout the day and night and offer fun and value for money holidays. Sunny Beach is the breakout most popular resort with UK visitors, as the resort has all the attractions you could ask for from a wide range of water sports to water parks, nightclubs, outstanding food and friendly locals. The clean beaches and warm waters draw crowds throughout the day not to mention that this summer Bulgaria experienced a heatwave where the water temperature reached 30 degrees which is great for the sunbathers, while the many water parks, theme parks, and water sports ensure the more active travelers are well catered for. Nessebar is also another popular choice and it is only 10 mins from Sunny Beach and manages to charm visitors by its combination of busy beach resort and fascinating historic site.

There is also a huge choice of local excursions which is another reason that Bulgaria holidays are becoming more and more popular with tourists not just in the UK but in the whole of Europe.

Winter:

During the winter season: Dec, Jan, Feb, March - Bulgaria's winter ski resorts in the stunning mountains are providing a very affordable alternative to the more established and loved ki resorts of Italy, France, and Austria. There you can find the combination of low affordable prices, great facilities and ski schools and excellent accommodation which make it an appealing option for those on a budget or looking for somewhere new. Resorts like Borovets, Pamporovo, and Bankso are particularly popular with their English language ski schools, offering tuition at great value prices.
