On the 15th & 16th of February 2014, Borovets will welcome the world's best alpine skiers to the resort to take part in the men's slalom and giant slalom races. This event takes on an extra significance this winter as it is the last training session for the skiers before the start of the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
Besides this major sporting event which again places Borovets on the world map of international competitions, Borovets is also gearing up for the upcoming winter tourist season.

It may only be October but if current weather conditions in Borovets are anything to go by then it looks at though skiers & snowboarders are in for a real treat on their holiday to Bulgaria this winter! Fresh snow began falling in Borovets this morning coating the Rila Mountain with plenty of the white stuff normally only seen later in the year.

From the 23rd - 25th August, the unlikely combination of summer sunshine and snowboarding will be brought to life at the Borovets Street Festival 2013. Burton Bulgaria in conjuction with the hotels of Borovets will provide a unique opportunity for all keen skiers and snowboarders to ride. Some great news arrived in the form of cranes and diggers this week in Pamporovo as construction began on a brand new lift facility due to be completed before the start of the upcoming winter season.
The new 4-seated lift was announced by the executive director of Pamporovo AD Mr. Marian Belyakov and the total cost of the project is expected to be around the 3.5m Euro mark (£3m). The resort of Pamporovo is hoping the new 1km lift will enhance the infrastructure within the resort along with the ski track measuring 1200 meters about to be prepared with an artificial snow inflow in the near future.
